Friends of Baltimore
This quilt is being made by using Sue Garmen's pattern. I plan on tweaking most of the blocks and removing a couple of them all together to replace them with a couple of my own designs. The finished quilt is going to be called Baltimore's Southern Cousin (since I'm from Texas....lol ) and I thought that a few blocks that better represented the south were in order. So far I've finished the first block and will be finishing the second in the next couple of days. So check back!
This is the first block, "The Glorious Eagle". It's a little too mcuh "Red, white, and blue"for me, but it's already done...
Better finished than perfect, right??
On this block I shortened the flag, to make it more proprtionate ( to me, anyway), removed the Union soldier uniform from the eagle, and made the eagle's head a little more "feathery" where the neck meets the body.
I've started a "quilt along" for this quilt on Flickr if anyone is interested in joing me. I hope others will come along on my journey. You can join here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1940709@N23/
The Farmer's Wife
This quilt is moving along wonderfully. It's probably my favorite quilt to work on, although you do spend alot of time cutting since each block is different.
69 blocks so far...but I took two out because i didn't like them. :-/
I wanted a very 'brown" quilt that would feel warm and homey with a little bit of cool blue so it didn't get too monotone. The watermelon red snuck in because I thought that it needed a little more "pop". So far I'm happy with it. This probably won't be the block arrangement. And now that I lay it out like this, it doesn't look as "brown" as I thought it would. Any suggestions on sashing colors??
