This blog was created as a general outlet for all my sewing and gardening
expertise to reach the general public. Hopefully, others will join me on some of
my quilting adventures and may their gardens benefit from my many "trial and
errors". :-)

Bringing it up to Speed

Sooo....my current running quilting projects are The Farmer's Wife quilt, a
quilt that is called "Mariner's In A Pickle" ( I probably won't be calling my
quilt that), and another that, in the magazine, was called Cottage Lane, an
applique quilt that is called, Friends of Baltimore, and one other applique
quilt that I just can't remember the name of right now. lol The Cottage
Lane Quilt is actually nearing the end of the quilting phase. I've just got some
of the border left to finish ( with a crosshatch design ) and then it's ready to
be bound. The "Mariner's In a Pickle" quilt is still being cut. The
process of simply choosing the fabrics for this quilt was hard enough, but
cutting this monster out has become rather tedious ( The Farmer's Wife was
picked up to give me a brake from this one). I believe all the time spent
preparing this quilt will be well worth it in the end however. This one should
be gorgeous. My Farmer's Wife quilt is somewhere in the middle. I've
gotten about half of the 111 blocks finished, which I think is pretty good,
considering that all of the blocks are different. The background for my blog is
actually one of the blocks called Star Gardener that I completed. It's one of my
favorite blocks that I've done so far. My Friends of Baltimore will be a
stunning heirloom quilt. I'm only on the second block but I have high hopes for
this one and hope that nothing happens to prevent me from finishing it. Check
out my first block in the Fabric Pile! ---------->
I'll be posting
pics of all these soon.

My flower garden consists mainly of
roses ( 40 bushes +/-) with some underplantings of annuals, such as petunias,
and some small perrenials. My roses are doing beautifully this year, especially
the ones in their third season. For others this is only their first or second
season but they are a all getting along wonderfully, and are LOVING this extra
rain we've been getting this spring.

My small vegetable garden
consists of several varieties of tomatoes ( both heirlooms and hybrids), okra,
poblano peppers, orange, green, and red bell pepper, banana pepper, jalapenos,
zuchinni, yellow squash, watermelon and cantelope. I usually only have a few
plants but since I had my son to help me this year, I thought we might
expand.

Awesome!

I was on another blog (http://tumbletalk.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html) and ran across a photo of a quilt that I am absolutely in love with.  I wanted to post it on my blog so that others might enjoy this wonderful piece of work as well.

I'm currently sizing up a "Pies and Tarts"  quilt that I have been wanting to do for a while, but I  wanted to try and get at least one project off my board before I start a new one. This quilt reminded me of it.. a little. It's like "Pies and Tarts" with 'roid rage. lol.
Kidding aside, I think it is gorgeous and very unique. Hats off to the maker, Mary Ann Karpinski!
